Congrats to Joel – he now has the highest rating (2711) he has had during the time I’ve been keeping the stats (which turns out to be more than ten years!). He didn’t quite catch up to Dave, who is at 2716.
Joel mentioned he hasn’t been ahead of Dave for more than ten years. I had thought he had been ahead at some point during my watch, but I no longer have all of the files. What I do have is a hard copy of the year-end of 1994 (just before I took over) and the year-end of 1995. That shows Joel trailing Dave by 7 points at the end of August 1994.
Year-to-date stats are still messed up. I’ll post them when they are repaired.
Sary noticed I originally reported those ratings as 1711 and 1716 – definitely not the right ratings for Joel and Dave!

This week marked the triumphant return of Bernard, who directed a club tournament a week early in anticipation of lower turnout on December 29.

Congrats to Joel, who hit the 2700 rating mark for the first time in a while, and is nipping on the heels of Dave!

Anagram to solve was ARMI* SUIT

Something is clearly wrong with the month-to-date and year-to-date stats – for example, Sary gained 69 rating points despite apparently losing all 21 of her games. In fact the only person reported to have won any games all month is newcomer Kathryn. Nonetheless, I believe the ratings themselves are correct so I will leave them posted and fix the errors when I have time.
Anagram to solve was SLAP UNIT. In true “Bernard fashion”, Sary refused to accept UNPLAITS – she was looking for the other one.
I don’t have the tournament sheet, but you could figure out who won by looking at the scan or the results.
